From the first time I saw the Lamborghini Urus I was smitten and jealous. I was smitten because of the beauty of the vehicle and the utility. I enjoy road trips and those road trips sometimes can take you on some pretty rough roads. I've even scraped on paved county roads.

I was also jealous. Jealous that the Lamborghini Urus is not a vehicle made in the United States just for Texas.

There used to be an automobile company called the Texas Motor Car Association. They built a vehicle just for Texas called "The Texan." It was designed specifically for Texas conditions.

If I were a billionaire, I would certainly bring this company back to life, and the first product would be inspired by the Lamborghini Urus.

The Texas Motor Car Association (1917–1922), Founded by James C. and Will H. Vernor, built a factory south of Fort Worth to produce the "Texan". This car featured a 35-horsepower four-cylinder engine, oversized tires, and extra-wide roofs suited for the Texas heat. Production ceased in 1922 due to a factory fire, competition with Ford, and an influenza outbreak.

The Texas Motor Car Association still exists. At some point it was bought by the Martin Sprocket and Gear company. Martin had on display one of the few surviving Texan cars. The entrance pillars and towers of the building still bear the original stones with the letter "T" for "Texas."
