I own a Dodge Challenger and I love it. So I'm following this historic transition from hemi to electric power. There's a lot going on! From chip shortages to "eMuscle."
Here are my notes on the big news items as we approach the eMuscle concept reveal, the future Dodge electric lineup, and the production of the first eMuscle car in 2024.

This sounds too low key to be a new eMuscle car (Challenger) reveal.

Dodge Stellantis announced a new "Speed Week" in August 2022. The wording is vague, but it looks like Aug 17 and the 20th are the key dates for the Dodge electric (eMuscle) concept reveal.

- August 17 – Future muscle announcement.
- August 20 - Dodge Dream Cruise public display.
The Woodward Dream Cruise is on August 20, 2022.
Below are some key statements from the Stellantis Press Release Jun 23, 2022:
"Dodge is pouring on the horsepower as the brand charges forward on its new performance path, launching a multi-day Dodge Speed Week event, August 12-20, 2022, on famed Woodward Avenue that will pack enough news to fill an entire calendar year into one week and charting the future of the Dodge brand."

Dodge Electric Muscle Car To Make Some Noise

"Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares presented on the new Dodge eclectic muscle car in Amsterdam last week at a strategic planning meeting to discuss the venture into EVs. According to Motor1, he said that this new model will make a "sound that you cannot imagine." and "[the sound] is just so brilliant that it is shocking."[1] Pun intended, I'm sure.
Additionally, Tavares, said they are working to "make the sound louder and more powerful in the function of the way you are using the car."[2]
Maybe you can still set off car alarms while cruising through neighborhoods.

When Will We See The 2024 Dodge Concept?

Timeline: "A concept of a pure electric Dodge muscle car will be revealed in the next four or five months (March/April 2022), Kuniskis says. It could be as early as the first quarter of 2022 (missed this target), but not later than the second quarter [2022]."
Mystery Third Vehicle (Cuda?): "In addition to the battery electric Dodge car and a plug-in hybrid car, Kuniskis is promising to show us a third vehicle key to Dodge's future. "The third one is going to be a very, very, very, significant car at the end of the year," he says.
Meanwhile: "There also will be gas-powered buzz vehicles for enthusiasts in the lead-up to 2024 when the first EV will hit the road, but Dodge will stop production of its current pair of high-octane muscle cars—the Challenger coupe and Charger sedan—in two years and replace them with new cars on new platforms."
Two Year Timeline: "Never Lift is a two-year plan to instill confidence that the brand is here for the long haul, Kuniskis says. It will show a clear path to electrification and is intended to not lose the muscle car crowd in the process. "I have two years to give them confidence it will be OK."

End of the Line for Challenger and Charger is 2023

We all know it's coming. Now we know when.
Way back in August Tim Kuniskis, Dodge CEO, said "We didn’t say that the current cars are going to die in 2024. There might be a little overlap, but you’re not going to have years and years and years of the classic and the new one at the same time." The Drive 8-18-2021
From Motor Trend:
"Dodge will stop production of its current pair of high-octane muscle cars—the Challenger coupe and Charger sedan—in two years and replace them with new cars on new platforms."
Never Lift is a two-year plan to instill confidence that the brand is here for the long haul, Kuniskis says. It will show a clear path to electrification and is intended to not lose the muscle car crowd in the process. "I have two years to give them confidence it will be OK."
So it appears there will NOT be an overlap! The overlap may be that you can still buy remaining 2023 models in 2024.
The end of the line for the current Challenger and Charger platform is 2023. Buy 'em up. Collect 'em all! Drive 'em forever.

What's the latest? Production delays.
It's hard to get clear information on what is going on. One thing is clear, my local Dodge dealer had no Challengers at all in August.
"Plants producing heavy-duty Ram pickup trucks, the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge vehicles will idle next week due to the global semiconductor shortage."
Brampton Assembly Plant in Ontario will halt. Brampton assembles the Dodge Charger and Challenger muscle cars as well as the Chrysler 300 sedan.

The one you want. The second best is the one you own.
Many of us buy the SXT because it is affordable and the V6 is powerful enough to make the car fun to drive. It is definitely NOT under powered.
