The Vintage Car Museum in Weatherford Texas is a Must Visit

Vintage Car Museum & Event Center Weatherford, Texas

The Vintage Car Museum & Event Center is located in Weatherford, Texas. The museum opened in August, 2016. As far as I know, it is the first automobile museum to open in Texas since 2011. The museum area is about 10,000 square feet and houses a collection of about fifteen cars.

Tom Moncrief is the owner Vintage Car Museum & Event Center. The museum houses several of Moncrief’s own cars, along with a rotating collection of classic automobiles from owners around the Fort Worth area.

Many of the vehicles in the collection have a unique story behind them. One such vehicle is a 1964 Lincoln Continental Convertible, owned by president Lyndon B. Johnson. LBJ used the Continental as his ranch car, and loved driving it at high speeds. He would also use it to take guests for rides around the ranch.

About the Owner

Tom Moncrief has always loved cars. He also loves working on them. He's hands-on when it comes to maintaining or rebuilding his cars. As a teenager Tom dreamed that someday he would be able to own a car museum. Decades later, in 2016, that dream became a reality when he opened the Vintage Car Museum & Event Center, in Weatherford, Texas.

Before the museum opened, Tom cooked up an idea for an automotive themed restaurant, called the Vintage Grill. The Vintage Grill opened in January, 2015. One of the cool features of the Vintage Grill is a space dedicated to displaying about ten antique vehicles.

Tom envisions the museum, and the restaurant, as a hub for car collectors and enthusiasts in the DFW area. To further increase the hub idea, they recently started a third Saturday of the month meetup at the museum.
